Get Involved in the December 10th Day of Action
Submitted by heather on Thu, 2009-10-22 20:58.
Join the Global Campaign for Education in a Day of Action on December 10th to encourage President Obama to lead the world in supporting a Global Fund for Education and funding it in his budget request to Congress. The world's children need YOU to take action. We know that universal education will save lives, reduce poverty, and promote a more stable, secure world. We also know that unless we take action now, we'll fall short of our goal to ensure every child has access to at least primary education by 2015. President Obama's top economic advisor Lawrence Summers said, "Educating girls yields a higher rate of return than any other investment available in the developing world." The quest to achieve quality education for all requires a strong international partnership to mobilize the resources required. The good news is that President Obama pledged $2 billion to a Global Fund for Education during his 2008 campaign, and we have an opportunity to make a difference.
How You Can Help:1. Call the White House on December 10th, and deliver the message:
2. Download a flyer (it's a PDF file), print 10 copies, and get them signed by your neighbors. Send them back to us and we'll deliver them in bulk to the White House and members of Congress who have the power do the right thing on global education. Send signed flyers back to:
3. Send a letter to the Editor of your state and local newspapers. Download a sample letter , edit it - make sure you explain why YOU are committed to universal quality education - and send it today. 4. If you're a Twitter user, encourage your twitter followers to support the campaign by re-tweeting this text: 5. Sign up to get campaign updates and more information about how you can get involved! If you're with an organization that can get behind this effort, please use this sign-up form instead.
