Whether it’s a birthday or a get-together, there’s nothing like celebrating helping children around the world receive a quality education!
If you’re having a birthday, consider “alternative gifts.” Instead of receiving a gift, your party-goers could make a donation to a project run by one of our coalition partners. They could buy a school uniform, give a scholarship or help build a library!
If you do not want to collect donations, you can have your guests take other actions to support universal education. After explaining the issue, your guests could write letters and call Congressional representatives, join a coalition partner for a march, or go speak about the issue to local organizations in the community.
Here are some easy steps to get you started:
- Select a date and time.
- Draw up guest list.
- Figure out what activities you would like to have. These should be related to the theme of the party. You may want to show a DVD or play the NetAid World Class Game to explain the issue to your guests.
- Design and send out invitations. Consider using www.evite.com to save on paper and postage!
- Decide what other supplies you’ll need for your party. If you are writing letters to Congressional representatives, make sure you have enough pens, paper and envelopes!
- Collect your RSVPs and send out a reminder a week in advance.
- Have your party! Be sure to send us an email with pictures of your event!
- Thank your guests for attending and encourage them to continue to be involved with universal education after the party by visiting www.campaignforeducationusa.org!
Tip: Have a computer set up with Internet access so your guests can donate to projects online.
