GCE-US Applauds Supporters of the 1GOAL Campaign
September 17, 2010
Earlier this week, you received an email from 1GOAL ambassador Nthabiseng Tshabalala. The Global Campaign for Education, US applauds you for your support of the 1GOAL campaign, part of the Global Campaign for Education. Through your commitment to 1GOAL and the Global Campaign for Education, support for Education for All is growing across the country and around the world. Your efforts and Nthabiseng’s courage are giving hope to the 72 million children still denied access to quality basic education.
The Global Campaign for Education, US is committed to making sure 72 million children have the right to an education. As Nthabiseng said, “education changed my life, and every child around the world should have that same opportunity.”
Already, you are having a profound impact on the fight to ensure universal education. Yesterday, because of your continued commitment to the Global Campaign for Education’s 1GOAL campaign, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) introduced the Education for All Act of 2010. This legislation would help achieve universal basic education and improve the lives of young women like Nthabiseng.
Next week, world leaders will gather in New York at the UN Millennium Development Summit. Nthabiseng will be there to tell her inspirational story and urge leaders to follow through on their commitments to achieving universal basic education by 2015. You can show your continued support and give a voice to the 72 million out-of-school children by signing this petition to President Obama, calling on him to support a Global Fund for Education. Together we can achieve 1GOAL – Education for All.
